Chair’s Corner – July 2019

Happy Fourth of July! The weather has been lovely from the start of July which makes outdoor picnics and bbqs a perfect way to celebrate our nation’s independence.

It is also a great time to reflect on the present state of our country and if the actions of our government are in line with our values as citizens of the United States.

The Women’s Caucus is dedicated to activism that closes this gap; that takes the enthusiasm of our members and turns it into real-world solutions, ensuring that in November 2020 a Decomcratic candidate will receive the conceding call from Donald Trump.  We want to thank you for helping us take steps to make this a reality. Your energy and dedication are second to none and all we ask is that you continue to harness this as this 2020 election nears.

Although summer can be a time of relaxation we are committed to bringing you ways to be involved over the summer.

The Women’s Caucus joined the DAUK picnic with a table sharing information on the caucus and the ERA (which will hopefully soon be ratified thanks to our friends in Virginia) and offering Rosie the Riveter photo ops.  The day was a great success! Check out our pictures and join us next year!

As temperatures and the Democratic Debates heat up we will be having more informal socials in July and August to discuss themes such as ‘American Women’ and ‘The Summer of Activism’.  We would love it if you could join us for these, follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on the details and remember to bookmark our events page!

Mark your calendars. Our next work for 2020 is this Friday July 12 as we join DAUK in protest to better treatment for the undocumented immigrants at the border, share your favorite American Woman at our July 17 Picnic, and why not do some community service by helping out refugees?! (details on our newsletter!)

See you soon!

Steph, Eva & Meghan
