Chair’s Corner: October 2020

While the current state of the world may have us staying at home, we are busier than ever as we inch closer to the November election.  I want to take a second to thank everyone who has volunteered over the past few months.  Whether you spend time postcarding, phonebanking, writing letters, posting online, hosting or attending webinars everything you do makes a difference.  Already more people have voted in this year’s election than in 2016.  With the election in sight it is time for a final push.  Now is the time to contact friends and family to see if they have voted. You can also contact your election officials to ensure they have received your ballot.  For resources and information the Global Women’s Caucus October Newsletter is full of helpful links for every stage of the voting process.  https://www.democratsabroad.org/bc_october_newsletter?utm_campaign=gc_october_newsletter_2020&utm_medium=email&utm_source=democratsabroad
No matter what the results are we will be here for you after the election.  We’ve scheduled two Women’s Caucus Chats over zoom where we can talk about  (and hopefully celebrate) the election results.  They are on Thursday November 5th from 12:00 – 13:00 and Friday November 6th from 18:00 – 19:00. To RSVP please email womenscaucus@democratsabroad.org.uk We will also be sending out information on a general meeting for all of our members to discuss our plans going forward.  We will send out more information on this closer to the time.
Over the past few months I have been so inspired by everything all of our members are doing as we prepare for the election.  I am so thankful to be surrounded by such an amazing group of activists.  While we may not be able to meet in person I am also grateful for all of the new faces I’ve seen at our meetings.  It is amazing having the opportunity to meet people from the Southeast all the way up to Scotland and around the world.  Thank you again for all of your hard work.  I’m hoping to be able to virtually celebrate with you all in November.
